Worry not, because if you want to be digitally literate and learn about the internet, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) offers a free online course on digital literacy.
The TESDA Digital Literacy course is comprised of two sub-courses:
- WI-FI 101 and Digital Thumbprint Program
- Microsoft Digital Literacy
What you will learn in WIFI 101 and Digital Thumbprint Program:
- explain how Wi-Fi works
- evaluate factors affecting Wi-Fi connection
- troubleshoot and optimize your Wi-Fi Connection.
What you will learn in Digital Citizenship and Responsibility
- apply cyber-safety practices in performing online activities
- determine facts, opinions, and false information
- prepare appropriate social media posts
- exhibit digital literacy
What you will learn in Microsoft Digital Literacy Course
The Digital Literacy course is for anyone with basic reading skills who want to learn the fundamentals of using digital technologies. In this course you will learn the following:
- understand basic computing concepts and skills
- safety risks you can face while using the internet
- online scams and how to avoid them
- best practices for sharing information online
- cyberbullying
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Filipino citizen (can be employed, unemployed, student, out-of-school youth, OFW, senior citizens)
- Must have their device (mobile phone, tablet, laptop, or desktop computer)
- Must have an internet connection
- Must be willing to take and finish the course at their own time and pace
How to Apply to TESDA Digital Literacy Online Course:
- First, you must create an account at the TESDA online course platform if you are a new user/student. Simply go to https://e-tesda.gov.ph/
- If you are a returning student, log in to your e-tesda account and navigate to the list of courses located on the upper part of the system.
- Look for the 21st Century Skills. Click enroll me.
How to Create an e-TESDA Online Account
- Go to the TOP website at https://e-tesda.gov.ph/.
- On its homepage, click the Login button in the upper right corner of the menu. Click the New Account. You will be redirected to an online form—fields with an (i) are mandatory.
- Fill in the needed information and then click Create Account.
- After creating an account, a message will be sent to your registered email address. It contains a link that you need to activate your account.
- Just click the link, and your account will be activated.
How to Get the TESDA Certificate
Complete the modules then generate the e-certificate after.
