The Covid-19 pandemic tested our lives physically, mentally, and financially. That's why various public institutions in the Philippines opened scholarship programs to help those financially deprived students.
Here are the available scholarships for incoming college students this S/Y 2021-2022:
CHED Scholarship 2021Total benefits: PHP10,000
Primary qualification: Children or family members of active GSIS contributors.
Eligibility
All active GSIS members who meet the following criteria:
- A college student at any year level - with 4 or 5-year course - enrolled in any CHED-recognized school - without any scholarship from a public or private organization.
- Have a permanent employment status.
- Are within the salary grade 24 (or its equivalent) and below.
- With no underpaid or unpaid loan amortization for more than 3 months.
Requirements
- Copy of your birth certificate.
- Certificate of registration of grades
- A certificate from a college verifying that you are enrolled or accepted during the current academic year and stating the;
- Course
- Duration of the course
- Year level
- Report card with a general weighted average (GWA) of at least 80% with no failing grade or incomplete mark incurred in any subject within the preceding term of the academic year.
- Certificate of employment or service record (if applicable).
- GESP application form.

- Must be a Filipino citizen
- Have gone through initial screening procedures of partner universities (e.g., entrance exams, submission of required documents, and preliminary interviews, which are standard requirements for enrollment).
- Preferably dependents of active members of cooperatives of small farmers and fishers currently being assisted by LANDBANK or LCDFI, or of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and Agrarian Reform Communities (ARCs).
- Must be students pursuing BS Agriculture, BS Fisheries, or any agriculture-related disciplines.
- General weighted average (GWA) of at least 2.5 or its equivalent in each semester, with no grades lower than 3.0 or its equivalent in any subject.
- Must not be enjoying any other financial assistance, grant, or scholarship from other external sources (e.g., foundations, government, and private scholarships, pre-need educational plans).
- Annual total family income must not exceed PHP 300,000.00 as stated in their BIR Income Tax Return (ITR)
Requirements
- Duly filled out the scholarship application form which can be obtained from Landbank's partner universities.
- Photocopy of the certified true copy of birth certificate PSA certified birth certificate
- Two 2" x 2" ID photos
- Medical certificate
- Photocopy of recent ITR of parents or BIR certificate of tax exemption
- A certified true copy of grades
Application
Students who passed the entrance exams or are currently enrolled in one of the 17 partner schools and taking up an agriculture-related course may submit the application form and all other requirements to their respective University Student Affairs Office on or before the published deadline.

Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) Scholarship grant offered to qualified dependents of active OWWA members who intend to pursue a 4-5 year baccalaureate course in any preferred colleges/universities.
Benefit
Financial assistance of P 60,000.00 per school year.
Qualifications (Incoming Freshmen)
- The member-OFW must have an active membership with OWWA at the time of the application.
- The dependent applicant must be single and not be more than 21 years old
- Must have an average grade of at least 80% and belongs to the upper 20% of the graduating class
- Must pass the qualifying examination conducted by DOST and belongs to the top 400 examination passer
Qualifications for those who are already enrolled in 2nd to 5th-year college
- Single
- Not more than 30 years old
- With a GWA not lower than B letter grade or 85% equivalent in all academic and non-academic subjects during the last school year attended in a full load.

- 2x2 ID Photos (2 copies)
- Proof of OWWA membership
- Official receipt of OWWA contribution
- OFW membership record
- Proof of relationship to OFW
- Birth Certificate (issued by PSA) of the applicant, if a child of OFW
- Birth Certificate (issued by PSA) of both applicant and OFW (if brother or sister of OFW)
- Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) from PSA (if OFW is unmarried)
- Form 137 for incoming first-year college or Transcript of Records or Certificate of Grades for those already enrolled in college
- Certificate of good moral character
- Certification from the principal that the applicant obtained a general weighted average (GWA) of 80% and that he/she belongs to the top 20% of the graduating class
OFW Dependent Scholarship Program (ODSP)
Educational assistance of P 20,000.00 per school year to a qualified dependent of an active OWWA member-OFW whose salary is not more than US$600.00
Qualifications
- Child of an active OWWA member or sibling of an unmarried OWWA member, who is single and not more than 21 years old for incoming freshmen, and not more than 30 years old for those who are already enrolled or have been enrolled in college
- Must pass the entrance examination conducted by state college/university in OWWA Regional Welfare Offices where he/she intends to enroll
- Must not be a recipient of any other scholarship grants

- Accomplished ODSP Application Form (2 copies)
- 2x2 ID Photos (2 copies)
- Proof of OWWA membership
- Official receipt of OWWA contribution
- OFW membership record
- Proof of relationship to OFW
- Birth Certificate (issued by PSA) of the applicant, if a child of OFW
- Birth Certificate (issued by PSA) of both applicant and OFW (if brother or sister of OFW)
- Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) from PSA (if OFW is unmarried)

- Certificate of Good moral character

Procedures
- Check your respective OWWA Regional Office/ Facebook page if there are still slots for the scholarship grant
- Completely fill out the given application form through your respective OWWA Regional Office or Facebook Page. Accomplish all documentary requirements.
- Submit all the documents through the nearest OWWA regional office in your area
- Wait for OWWA's advice on the results of your application.
